We woke up to a cool sunny morning here in Miami. We will join the ship at around noon today. We are full of expectation and thoroughly relaxed today. We look forward to what God has for us in the next few week.

Here were are in Miami. Woke up to the sounds of birds this morning and realized those weren’t the sounds of my backyard. When I looked outside I saw a crane like bird.
I put on my exercise clothes and ate a bowl of oatmeal and set out for a walk around the neighbourhood. Turns out that our motel is in the middle of an low industrial area so there wasn’t much to see but I got in a good walk.

Well here I am sitting in an airport on my way to adventure. Soon I will be leaving the snow behind and heading for Miami. It will be so nice to feel the warm sun on my tired sore joints.
Two day in Miami and we will board the Norwegian Star for 2 weeks at sea. I can hardly wait. Instead of our usual rush to meet schedules, this time we are going to treat our time on the ship like a health ranch. You know the kind where you eat carefully and exercise daily in the fresh air. I am so looking forward to it.
We will dock in LA just in time for the Craft and Hobby Association Winter Conference 4 days of classes, new products, make and takes, demos and shop, shop, shop.
The last day of the conference we will launch the new CHA Canada Section. I will be leading this meeting and I am so excited to be helping to birth this new group.

1/1/11 A New Year

Here it is day one of a new year. Happy New Year to everyone.

At this point last year I was looking forward with great expectations. The year was to include a trip around the tip of South America, a new grand child, a trip to Winnipeg for the Fringe festival, several trips to crafting events in the US, completion of several Ministry courses that I was working on.

The reality was that things don’t always go as planned. The year started off well with a better than anticipated trip to Annaheim for the Craft and Hobby Convention. Our trip to South America took a twist when a bird hit grounded our plane and put us in Santiago for the earth quake. In early May we went to Detroit for the Great Lakes Mega Meet. While we were there we got news that a pipe burst in our basement. So great to have family and friends that cleaned up the immediate damage and dealt with insurance for us. We did have a new grandchild in May. Sarahbeth is such a big part of our life now and she is wonderful. Our trip to Winnipeg and the Fringe Festival started off with our car being broken into. The damage took a week to sort out. We volunteered at the festival, which was a lot of fun. We also visited old friends. We then went on to Chicago for the CHA Craft Conference. Trip was great. It was a nice time to relax. The rest of the year has flown by. What with Croptopia Pink for CIBC Run for the Cure, and Autumn in the Valley Retreat and several trips to Petawawa for Scrap N Yap, we have kept busy. We also did our first online crop using Facebook as the venue. All in all it was a year filled with expectations and surprises. Though it all God has honoured us and kept us. When things went wrong we always ended up ahead of where we were to begin with.

I am looking forward to what this year will bring.
