Mark Richards Class and Using up the Extras

Recently I attended the Craft and Hobby Association Trade Show in Chicago. I had a wonderful time. It was great to renew friendships with people that I only see twice a year at the show. There were so many new products to experience. I made some great purchases and I will tell you all about each product as they arrive in our store. One of the highlights of the show is attending classes that are sponsored by various of the exhibiting manufacturers. One such class was one that featured embellishments from Mark Richards Enterprises.

We made these cards and gifts in the class.

Oval white frame with pearlsI love this dainty frame. We started with a white oval matt. For all of the projects we used the Crystal Stickers. In this case we used the pearls to embellish around the oval. They were so easy to apply, as they are all self sticking. They can be used individually or put on in strings as we did here. Adding the white fleurette flower and sheer ribbon bow completed it. Wouldn’t everyone love to have their wedding photograph framed in this. Tieing a bow around a gift box and bundling candy and shredded mylar in a circle of white tulle compleled the ensemble.
These are great wedding ideas.

Mark Richards Elegant card We also made this vibrant center flower card. We used the tiny silver strips and corners from Mark Richards Peel Offs to make the border around the edges. These were very simple to use due to their sticker backs. In the center we used a black square of cardstock matted with patterned paper that allowed just a tiny bit of pink pattern to show. This was very effective in just adding a little splash of colour. The square was then embellished with black crystals around the edge. Very effective! The card was completed with a black fluerettes flower with a large white vrystal sticker in the middle. I was surpised at how quickly the card was completed and the finished product was beautiful.

This was a fun little project.tag book This tag book was interesting to put together. Each page is very pretty and showcases all the bling you can put together. Starting with the basic cardstock tags, each page was covered back and front with patterned paper. Then some of the pages were embellished with torn patterned paper across the bottom of the page. On some pages I cut flowers from the paper and put a crystal in the middle. All the pages were blinged out with silver sticker strips and crystal stickers. This was a joy to complete because there was lots of room to do it my own way.

multi media board
The multi-Media Board was created using a chipboard back board. It was covered with black cardstock and then a piece of torn patterned paper was added to the bottom. The shiny frame was created using Silver Peel Offs Lines and Corners. Then it was completed with a Fluerette Feather black/white combo. I was pleased with how this project turned out. I have never worked with feathers before but they sure give the frame an exotic feel. I am new to working with so many different media. This could be used as a journal cover or as a hanging frame.

layout When I got home I decided to use up all the left over products and see if I could create a 12 x 12 layout. I overlapped all the partial sheets of patterned paper until I had a background completed. Then I Set about using the left over embellishments. Here is what I came up with. Even with that I still had embellishments left over to add to some more projects later. The photograph that I added is of the wedding of my husband’s grandparents. I thought the style of the page was appropriate for the time period of the photo.

This whole grouping will now be donated to the Croptopia Pink Silent auction. This will be the fifth year that Croptopia will be raising funds to fight cancer. On Saturday September 22, 2012, some 50 crafters will be joining forces to raise funds for the CIBC Run For the Cure. If you are in the Ottawa area, sign up now..
