Journey across the northern Hemisphere
Welcome to the Journey blog hop around the UK, Canada and the United States. We are a group of ladies who met through an online business course and other creative courses.
We have chosen Journey as the theme for this blog hop. It’s a word that can be interpreted spiritually, physically, literally and creatively and we hope you will enjoy your journey as you hop around our blogs.

Today I am starting a Journey….
It is a journey to connect my grandchildren to my grandparents. It is a journey to remember everything I ever knew about my grandparents and scrapbook them in a way that will make them real to my grandchildren. This is my attempt to give them roots. To introduce them to the strong pioneering people who came to Canada to forge a better life. I will journey first through my memories and create a journal of my grandparents and aunts and uncles to attempt to tell the story of their struggles and victories. I will hopefully remember the stories I have been told and the experiences I have had with these wonderful people. I will then seek out others who have information to help me. There are some in our family who have done much in the genealogy areas. Finally I will put together scrapbook pages to create an album and duplicate it for my grandchildren.
This journey will cover many years and many miles. It is not begun without some trepidation and fear because I am not a writer. Will I complete this task or will I fall short? I do not know but I know that I am determined to try. I think I am up to the task but I will call on my Lord at each step and at each turn. I will ask Him to give me strength and remind me of the particular events He wants my grandchildren to know about. I believe this is so important to my loved ones. It will show them the strong deep roots that under gird their lives. In turn, I hope they will carry these ancestors and their stories to their own children and grandchildren

What an awesome idea! I must think about doing something like this…I miss the stories from those who have passed on…my late father-in-law was a great story teller, and even though he often repeated the same stories over and over, I never tired of hearing them…best wishes with this project! love and hugs!

I encourage you to write down what you do remember. You will be surprised at how much you will remember, once you start.

I love your timeline page and what a wonderful idea to journal about your ancestors for your future generations. That is what scrapbooking is all about – preserving out memories for the future. I wish I had more knowledge of past generations to share with my children and eventually their children. I think you are going to create something absolutely awesome!

I love the concept of your journey- and I believe that it will be a real blessing to your grandchildren. In the book of Joshua, the Lord commands His people to erect stones so that when the children ask a out them, they would have a way to share all the good things God had done. :). I pray that you will find the dedication to share His story as you put together the story of your family’s journey… :). Hugs!

What a wonderful idea…I have had sporadic thoughts of digging through my genealogy for my kids to know their ancestors, but where to start when the grandparents have already passed away?

HI Lorraine. Even if the grandparents have already died, it would be nice to tell your children the stories you remember from knowing your grandparents.

What a great idea, to consciously do this for your grandkids. I do some of this is my general scrapbooking, and have focused on it a bit more for my Book of Me, but at the pace I’m going, I’ll be a grandparent by the time I get finished, LOL!

Wow….I am at a loss for words, and as Susan knows that is not common. I love this idea and look forward to walking with you through this journey. You inspire me all the time to be the best I can be. I love the idea of incorporating the family history. Grandparents are so important. I cant wait to see how it all turns out!!

This journey will be a discovery. I have completed heritage albums with all the interesting tidbits of long ago relatives, that one can only find with communication with others. It has brought those old fading photo’s to new life and meaning. It certainly earned them new respect of the struggles they had compared to our lives. I hope your grandchildren enjoy the reflections. I will follow this on your blog..
