I love the Christmas season. It is so much fun to decorate the Christmas tree and put my Christmas village out. Yesterday I made my shortbread, ginger snaps and double chocolate cookies. Today I will go out to the malls and feel the Christmas rush. It is all part of the Christmas season.
Best of all is remembering the Reason for the Season. The baby Jesus who arrived to save me from my sinful ways. Christmas is just the beginning of Easter. “For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not parish but have have ever lastingl life” Thank you God. Thank you Jesus. I love Christmas

New Maya Road Products now instock

We are pleased to announce that we are now selling Maya Road in our Croptopia Online Store.

Carline Lau and Susan Irvine

This weekend I was introduced to some of the new lines from Maya Road. Cariline Lau, one of the owners of Maya Road was in Ottawa to teach classes at Multicrafts Wholesalers. She is a wonderful teacher and had so many ideas for using the new supplies. At right you can see a picture of both of us.

We learned how to make flowers from ribbons and zippers. I used a glue gun for the first time in years and have the burnt fingers to prove it. I showcasing many of the techniques that I learned at our Croptopia Pink, fundraiser for CIBC Run for the Cure, on September 17th, 2011. Check out our website to get all the details and see the new products.

These are the Zipper Trim Flowers we learned how to make at the class.

Once again the three days in Chicago went by very fast. The Special Canadian Designer Showcase the first day was wonderful. Each designer was given the same products to work with and what they came up with was incredible. I can’t wait to get home and have a good look at the CD of instructions.

That evening we went to the Taste of Chicago. Many local restaurants came together to treat us to a tasting party, with portions that meant you weren’t going to need supper. It was a lot of fun. A usual the Chicago deep dish pizza was amazing.

The next day we waited with excitement for the doors to open. Wescott presented us all with lovely carry bags and off we went to see all the new products.

I went first to the Provo Craft booth to do a make and take and try out the new Cricut Expressions machine. We were to learn how to cut and use vinyl. The project was great but our machine didn’t work and it seemed many of the machines had to use different settings to get the vinyl to cut. Bruce and I were both using the same machine and we were not impressed.

After that we checked out many booths over the next couple of days. I discovered new papers from Canvas Corp that I just had to buy. Then I purchased the whole line from My Little Shoebox. I just love their papers and every season Helen comes out with more designs to tempt us. We were also very pleased with the new series from sei. They never let us down. I also found some lovely fall papers from American Crafts. I will start posting images over the next few days.

I only took one workshop this year. Helen from My Little Shoebox did an acrylic album with her new papers. It was nice to sit back and play with the new products, especially the new diecut 3D flowers.

We also tried out the silhouette cutting machine from Sizzix. I was impressed with how well it cut vinyl for iron on transfers. There was lots of detail and all the areas were cut well. We each made a lovely bag.

We attended the Canadian Section meeting and I was a little disappointed in the turn out. I saw lots of Canadians at the event but they didn’t bother to come to the meeting. Hopefully in the future others will begin to realize what the CHA Canadian Section can do for crafting in Canada.

Due to the excessive heat we didn’t go into town and do any sightseeing this year. It was just too unhealthy to be out in the high heat and humidity.

I look forward to going to CHA again next year and can’t wait for all my orders to arrive.

Heelers Crop

Filed under: Uncategorized — croptopia @ 7:57 pm

I had a great time at the Heelers Crop in Winchester yesterday. The girls did a great job and raised lots of money for their charity. It was nice to have a day to just work on my projects, without interruptions. I put together 8 cards from a We R Memories kit and I designed a make and take card for our Croptopia Weekend. I also met a new friend Diana. We are both Scrapping Grannies.

The sales items will actually continue until midnight tonight, rather than have each one run for a short time.

I love to buy letters that are white. They can be inked, chalked, stamped on and painted. You can make them fit in to any project that you are doing because they will always match.

Our evening special for you is White Thickers. They come in chipboard and Fabric. Special tonight only $2.00.
